Fellow Bricoleurs,
So, the beta has been out for about 10 days, and only two bugs have been reported.
http://bricolage.lighthouseapp.com/projects/29601-bricolage/milestones/61923-200
So I'm thinking it's time to get 2.0.0 finally out the door. A number of things need to happen before we're ready to do that:
* Those bugs need to be fixed (plus the one Alex is working on)
* A marketing-focused list of changes needs to be created. It would cover everything in Bric::Changes each of the 1.11 releases, but would be written in plain-ish English so that people can get excited about the changes.
* A press press kit needs to be created. It doesn't have to be long; the PostgreSQL kits make nice examples: http://www.postgresql.org/about/press/presskit84.html. A couple of quotes would be useful, perhaps from Gossamer, The WHO, The Tyee, New Internationalist, or some others.
* A brief announcement needs to be written. It can be similar to what we've created before, but ought to link to the Changes list and the press kit.
* The announcement should also be rejiggered for use on other sites (like FreshMeat) and mail list posts (pgsql-announce, modperl-announce, mysql-announce, php-announce, etc.). We should create a list of lists we want to post to and adapt drafts for each as appropriate.
* The Web site needs updating. Phillip is working on this, and it doesn't *have* to be done for the new version, but it'd be nice if they coincided.
* The source needs to be tested, packaged up, and released.
I have the ability to do any and all of these tasks, but not the tuits. I need your help. If you think you can contribute to this effort, please do! What bits of the above can you do in the next week or so? Please reply to this thread and we'll get a schedule together.
Oh, and if there's anything else you think we should do to help promote this release, reply with that information, too. I want this to be a big release, and to garner some attention, don't you?
Thanks,
David
