- Data ONTAP supports a maximum of 16 concurrent backups, restores, or
both on a local tape drive.
- NDMP supports a maximum of 128 concurrent sessions on NearStore and 40
on other systems.
On ONTAP 8.0.x the maximum number of sessions is even higher:

Hello All,
We've previously been under the impression that our v3170 could only run
16 NDMP sessions at a time. But our reporting seems to show as many as 27
running. Did this change in our last upgrade? We're currently at 7.3.5.1P5
