plugins problem
Hi List:

I just installed nessus on freebsd, but I'm having a problem loading the
plugins. When I run the program there is nothing in the Plugin Selection box
on the Plugins tab. Clicking on the enable all button has no effect.

nessus -v
nessus (Nessus) 2.2.9 for FreeBSD

(C) 1998 - 2006 Tenable Network Security, Inc.
SSL used for client - server communication

The following is from /usr/local/var/nessus/logs:
[Fri Aug 22 20:37:21 2008][88151] nessusd 2.2.9. started
[Fri Aug 22 20:39:13 2008][88151] connection from 127.0.0.1
[Fri Aug 22 20:39:13 2008][88157] Client requested protocol version 12.
[Fri Aug 22 20:39:13 2008][88157] bad login attempt from 127.0.0.1

I started nessusd from the command line and received this response:
# nessusd
All plugins loaded

I also received this on the command line after I type in the password:
nessus &
[1] 88156
[root@amd64X2 ~]# [88156] SSL_CTX_load_verify_locations: error:02001002:system
library:fopen:No such file or directory

After install of nessus I installed the plugins, and setup the CA cert.
Everything seemed to go fine. When I run a scan I get a dialog box saying
"nessusd returned an empty report".

If there is any more info needed to troubleshoot, let me know. Any help is
appreciated.

TIA

Hi there,

Did you mean to choose Nessus 2? There is a Nessus 3 version available for
FreeBSD 7, although it is 32 bit and unless you just have 64 bit machine
envy, you seem seem to be on a 64 bit machine.

If you build Nessus from source, you should go for the latest build of
Nessus 2 which is 2.2.11.

Did you register for a plugin feed? In order to get new plugins from Tenable
you need to register for the ProfessionalFeed if you are using this
commercially, or if you are working on this at home, for the Home Feed.
