New/Bugfix Version: Bulk Updater for Videometa(imdb) data
List-

There is yet another new version of the imdb-bulk-update.pl tool available.

Download link:
http://www.4shared.com/file/23145905/548ed5c2/imdbupdatertar.html

This version has major bugfix for something I inadvertently introduced in
1.4. So for anyone on 1.4, please move to this new version. I had a bug
that was adding multiple entries into the DB when using the -Fileup
switch. You may have only experienced it once, and the tool should have
exited with an error when it was exhibited. But if you re-ran the script
or ran out of cron, it's possible your DB has a few to many entries in it.

The good news is, if you didn't run the -exclude on any of the new ones
you may be able to quickly remove the duplicates with:

This will dump all new and non-excluded entries from the DB. The new
version will re-enter them with -Fileup cleanly..

echo delete from videometadata where inetref=00000000\; | mysql -umythtv
-pmythtv mythconverg

If you have duplicate exlcudes this would work (however, it would also
remove anything that -Exclude flagged before. so -Exclude would need to be
run with the new version.

echo delete from videometadata where inetref=99999999\; | mysql -umythtv
-pmythtv mythconverg

To remove those entries with actual titles & data matching will be
trickier and may need some more careful processing. But to see if you have
any duplicates you can do this:

echo select intID, filename from videometadata order by filename\; | mysql
-umythtv -pmythtv mythconverg

This will sort the filenames and you should be able to easily spot those
duplicates. Then you'd want to delete from videometadata where
intID="offending intID for duplicate";

Outside of the bugfix, another option -Folder was added so that you can
manually override the folder setting to search for new videos. This way
you could run multiple cron jobs and completely ignore those temporary or
garbage folders you'd rather not have in the db.

Sorry for any hassle the bug introduced.

Re: New/Bugfix Version: Bulk Updater for Videometa(imdb) data [ In reply to ]
One final problem with this, the script is still setting showlevel = 0 for
all the videometadata inserts and hence I cant see them in mythvideo though
I can see them in the database, I ended up deleting all the data in the
videometadata table and running the script again to test and found I could
see nothing in mythvideo, if I then run an update to set showlevel = 1 for
all entries I am then able to see everything in mythvideo, this is the same
problem Philippe Demartin mentioned in 1.4 in the thread below

I think changing line 680 to
$sqlstat = "insert into videometadata
(title,director,rating,inetref,coverfile,filename,showlevel) values(\"$
title\",\"Unknown\",\"NR\",\"00000000\",\"No Cover\",\"$_\",\"1"\);";

should fix it?

Make that

$sqlstat = "insert into videometadata
(title,director,rating,inetref,coverfile,filename,showlevel) values(\"$
title\",\"Unknown\",\"NR\",\"00000000\",\"No Cover\",\"$_\",\"1\");";

Ah ha. Yeah you're right. I apparently missed that in philippe's comments.
Yeah I see what you mean now. I rely on the extra option for browse files
apparently, so I have no issues seeing them in the List filter that I use.
But I'll fix this straight away and get a new version up there.

So upon further examination. I think this really is a schema /
functionality bug in mythtv. The default value for Showlevel in the DB is
'0', so this is why it's set as so with my addition. However, the lowest
level in the Video Settings is '1'.

I'm not sure how the code works on the mythvideo side, but I'd expect that
if you had Show level at 2 for example, 0,1,2 should all be visible. But
it appears the code disregards 0, or explicitly ignores for another reason
perhaps.

I'll get this added, in the meantime I expect maybe it works for others
because they too have "browse files" set as I do.

Re: New/Bugfix Version: Bulk Updater forVideometa(imdb) data [ In reply to ]
Hey Ryan,

I think I just stumbled on another problem, if you change files or folders
from or to uppercase it caused multiple entries for both the upper and the
lowercase versions to be inserted into the database.

Ie.

The.IT.Crowd.S02E06.avi is renamed too The.IT.CROWD.S02E06.avi or vice versa
entries for both are inserted into the database, then if you rename them
back you get 4 entries in the database!

I had a quick look through the code but my perl is very rusty

Cheers

Anthony

I can't see where this is happening. I take a non-filter dump of the files
from the DB, then perl checks with ! -e (non true exist) if that statement
is true it removes the DB entry. I haven't had any issues with duplicates
past the 1.4 bugs in my DB.

Code:
foreach (@LISTINDB) {

if (! -e "$_") {

print "\nRemoving entry for $_ from database\n";

$sqlstat = "delete from videometadata where
filename=\"$_\
"";

End code

Can you give me output from the mysql for those entries:

select filename from videometadata where filename="%The.IT.CROWD.S02E06%";

Are you absolutely sure your're running the 1.6? You extracted to the same
place? I ask this because I modified the ARRAY value for the the "total"
found above to +1. By default first array element is 0, so just to correct
the script I do a +1 for total so users are confused if it says total 0 to
be added, then adds 1...

Anyhow, in the 1.6 version this is corrected. I just tested with 3 files,
shows me "Found a total of 3 to be added to database.

Just make sure you hadn't extracted to a different directory or something,
or permissions failed to overwrite on extraction?

Seems odd that you'd show 3 and it says 2. which makes me think it's an
older version which may have had other bug still.

Ok so I can make no sense of what You're seeing. I did my own little test
my filesystem and it did exactly what I expect it would do. I checked the
DB only the 3 listings where there. Notice that is also stated adding 3 to
database, which just doesn't jive with what your script did. Show'd 3
titles but said it was adding 2.

What version of perl are you using? perl -v ?
