PR1.3 coming!
Hi!
I just read on a German newsticker that a PR1.3 is planned, excellent!
One of the major enhancements will be that it can dual-boot Maemo and
MeeGo, pretty cool.

I just hope that they also finally "fix" Nokia-Maps enabling
turn-by-turn navigation... all other Symbian smartphones have it by now
just the "flagship" of next-generation smartphones does not... pretty
disappointing.

Cheers

Check out Harri Hakulinen's blog which contains some mention about it,
I think it was the source for the news spread around the news sites:
http://meego.com/community/blogs/harrihakulinen/2010/meego-calling-n900

I guess PR1.3 kernel will support kexec and then we can use bootmenu
to run MeeGo from our SD card similar to NITDroid installation - yeah,
maybe we can have tri-boot maemo/meego/nitdroid :) :) :)

I seriously doubt it. And N900 as "flagship" is a title given it by
us, not by Nokia. I would say flagship was N97 and now N8. Some blog
even said recently that the first MeeGo-Harmattan device won't have
turn-by-turn navigation in Maps, either.

Of course Nokia won't officially tell anyone anything about future
plans with their closed software (Except that MeeGo-Harmattan won't
officially be supported on N900...) so all we can do is guess and wait
and hope.

PR 1.3 version 20.2010.36-2 is now available.

Various questions:

Who has installed this? Did you flash or go OTA?

Anyone using this with power-kernel? Is power-kernel compatible with 1.3?

What sort of multi-boot capabilities are there? I currently use the
multi-boot package to boot between Maemo and Android. Is 1.3 compatible
with multi-boot?

If you've done the upgrade, can you run
uname -a
and paste what the output says?

Yup, just upgraded - from a first look I cannot discover any big news so
I assume most changes are rather "under the hood".
I am now looking forward for a first dual-boot guide for Maemo/MeeGo.

I tried doing an OTA upgrade. It said I had conflicts. I started removing
conflicts, and then it went out and removed just about the whole rootfs.
So, I've just flashed it and am starting to rebuild everything. Of course,
now I have lots of free space!

I'm trying to install OTA, but I don't have enough free rootfs
space... and of course it does not tell me how much it wants me to
have, only that I don't have enough. Some things never change! :(

Got up to 36.6M free rootfs and now it appears to be happy. And so am I. :)

Ouch! I always do "apt-get -s remove package" so I can see what it
wants to do before actually letting it do anything. Not that it does
any good for you by telling you this now. :)

I had to remove Healthcheck, GLTron, CloudGPS and Brainparty in order
to resolve my conflicts.

Download was moving at a glacial pace, and I'm about to leave, so I
cancelled. I will try again later today. Good luck.

Officially:

Ovi Suite Support
Ovi Music Support
Lots of bugfixes/performance improvements

If you do an advanced search on bugs.maemo.org with the new version as
target, and status as fixed/resolved you can see some of the public
bugs which were fixed.

The list of public bug reports that have been fixed for PR1.3 is
available from http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo_5/PR1.3 .

I assume that you did file a bug report (URL please?) to get it

I absolutely did not. :) In fact I didn't think of that idea until
writing that...

My "some things never change" was referring to my bad luck of having
insufficient rootfs freespace as I have had in every PR so far, not
the lack of detail in the message.

But I think you have a good idea (as usual) to file an enhancement
request about the message. So I did it:
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11448

BTW Andre, thanks again for all of your work in the Maemo bugzilla and
community!

I still can't see PR1.3 in my App Manager. I have UK variant (.203), tough,
so I reckon I'd need to wait another 4-6 weeks, agh. :| Anyone else with
.203 variant already upgraded?

I had expected this to happen at least after many of us hat trouble with
rootfs space when updating to PR1.2. Hope it gets fixed!

CC'ed myself. There's no possibility to vote for bugs in maemo bugzilla,
or am I wrong?

Assuming that it requires string changes and updated translations I
wouldn't bet on it as Nokia considers the Maemo5 User Interface stable.

The possibility exists, but is very shy and hence hidden.

OTA. Had to remove conflicts and free up rootfs space (temporarily
moved kernel-power's modules to the eMMC, that gained about 7M), then
I was good to go.

After the upgrade, rootfs space remaining is the same as when I had
PR1.2. So that's good.

I was using multiboot and kernel-power along with nitrdroid. PR1.3 did
not touch multiboot. I rebooted into stock kernel before installing
the OTA update.

After installing PR1.3, multiboot still works, power-kernel still
works, nitdroid still works. (I did not need to reinstall power-kernel
as I would have if I were not using multiboot)

Same kernel version as before, but with an August build date.

There's not much to help except for waiting for Nokia to provide it

I've use handy apt-get to upgrade. (apt-get dist-upgrade)

Could boot into power-kernel but don't have a use of it anymore because
the improvements of performance of the global system are immense.

The only thing what makes me a little bit perplex is the fact that the
