AH HAH... I found the answer I was looking for actually documented... If you have Active UCSS then you automatically migrate from Ala Carte to UCL during an upgrade to CM 8.x+. So as Erick mentioned above "3. There is no migration cost from ala carte to UCL as there is with CUWL." absolutely true if you have active UCSS.
IF you let your ESW or UCSS lapse then you're stuck paying for the Migration.... FYI for those that don't know if your ESW lapses so does your UCSS since you can't have active UCSS without ESW.

Once whatever parts you have on there fade from existence you will have to add ESW for what the new parts would be to your contract. Whatever renewal that is, is in most cases going to cost you more than your last renewal.
Now frankly, I would suggest not waiting for EOL and doing this ahead of time, but as of right now. I am not aware of being forced to do this early.
So you will not be paying for upgraded licenses per se but the more expensive ESW that is associated with the new licenses you got for "free"

Agreed Lelio... renewal is a VERY gray area I would like to hear from Cisco how they will be handling this and how they will be effectively forcing people to pick a licensing platform if their UCSS does not expire.

I can't imagine Cisco telling you at time of UCSS renewal you have to do this. If you let UCSS lapse, then yes, this will likely kick in.

Perhaps due to the quantity of business we give to Cisco they are allowing us to migrate at no cost but Ted is correct, there is a fee associated with migrating to UCL. I've found the listing in the configuration tool.
What bugs me about the whole 'migration cost' is you're effectively re-purchasing licenses you already own.

In normal migration fashion, I had to take the licensing from the Unity server, get the MAC changed for CUC, Upload to CUC and then install the Unity to CUC Migration License. If you have CUWL you can order it via the PUT... UCXN7-MAXP-UWLADD and that should work for CUC 8 as well.

I remember reading somewhere along the way that Unity/Unity Connection licenses were changed to where everyone got all the ports needed for free. The question I have is how do I get the ports added? The customer has UCSS and we got the upgrade licenses but I still have just their original 16 ports on their primary server. They got HA and the subscriber now has 250 ports! Does anyone know the process for this?
